Sizes available: TBD
Basics: zones 3-7, 1' x 1', deciduous shade (more light in the spring, closed canopy okay later), blooms early to mid spring, known for a maroon-red flower, but can also bloom white, pale red, and even greenish, likes rich, acidic soils and consistent moisture, but the plants in my garden have exhibited quite a bit of drought tolerance.
Common names: Red Trillium, Wakerobin, Bethroot
Family: Melanthiaceae
Origin/Distribution: Native to Maine.
Habitat: this varies - deciduous and sometimes mixed evergreen/deciduous forests, well-drained, but moist and rich woodland soils, also open, dry, yet nutritious woods and sometimes floodplains (seasonal wetness)
More: Both the root and the whole plant have been used medicinally. More information coming soon.
