Basics: zones 4-8, 24-54" x 24-36", full sun, tiny wine red flowers bloom in a bottle-brush type arrangement at the top of wiry stems in mid to late summer, prior to which it presents as a basal clump of attractive, serrated leaves, prefers consistent moisture
Common names: Slender-leaved Burnet, Japanese Burnet
Family: Rosaceae
Origin/Distribution: Occurs in temperate lowland and mountainous areas of Japan, Korea, eastern Russia, and eastern China.
Habitat: Found in damp grassland and along streams and rivers.
More: Although this is a large perennial at maturity, it is not bulky, and bloom height can be lowered by cutting growth back by a third by late June. This will delay the flowering time as well. More information coming soon.
