Sizes available: HPP quart

Basics: zones 2-9, 3-4' x 2-3', full sun to part sun, tall, square-stemmed spires of pink flowers (occasionally white), vaguely reminiscent of snapdragons, blooms from summer into fall, likes a moist, well-drained, nutritious soil. Tolerates occasional drought and also likes (a lot) very wet soil, but does not need it to thrive in your garden as long as it has consistent moisture. Partial to neutral to lime-y pH.

Common names: Obedient Plant, Obedient False Dragonhead

Family: Lamiaceae

Origin/Distribution: Native to most of central and eastern North America as far south as northern Mexico, native to Maine (sort of) - According to Go Botany, although there are native populations of this plant in both Maine and New Hampshire, many populations are garden escapees.

Habitat: Found in moist thickets, open and wet meadows, damp woodland edges, gravel bars, sunny stream banks, wet ditches, and RR track edges.

More: Very nectar-rich, long bloomer. This is a strong grower and a somewhat drier spot may help slow it down. Cut flower. More information coming soon
