Sizes available: HPP quart
Basics: zones 5-9 (Some sources say only hardy to zone 6. We shall see), 2-4' x 12-18", full sun to light shade, pinky-lavender, tubular flowers form tiered whorls on tall, sturdy stems in early summer, drought tolerant once established. Does not like winter wet.
Common names: Tuberous Jerusalem Sage, Sage-leaf Mullein, Bodmon Sok (Kalmyk)
Synonyms: Phlomis tuberosa
Family: Lamiaceae
Origin/Distribution: native to southwest Asia and Europe
Habitat: dry woodland edge
More: If you can provide good winter drainage in a sunny spot I think this plant will grow well for you. It will attract pollinators and has been used medicinally. The tubers are edible cooked. The standing dried stalks look very good in the late season garden. They are very dark and offer a pronounced graphic presence that is set off well by lighter dried grasses. I also think it might make a good cut flower, both fresh and dried.
