Sizes available: 2 quart
Basics: zones 3-7, 8-18" x 6-12", part sun to part shade, wants springtime light, so deciduous shade is fine, tiny, white flowers with fringed edges sparkle along thin wands over heart-shaped ground foliage. This is a late spring bloomer that likes medium wet to medium dry, fertile woodland soil, and is drought tolerant once established.
Common names: Twoleaf Miterwort, Bishop's Cap
Family: Saxifragaceae
Origin/Distribution: Native to southwest Quebec and New Hampshire as far south as upland Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas, and as far west as Minnesota.
Habitat: fertile, deciduous woods
More: A single plant of Bishop's Cap is going to struggle to get your attention, but a large swath of them in bloom is a lovely sight to behold. Good for a shady path or border edge in concert with other springtime bloomers and although it is slow to establish has potential as a ground cover after flowering. Also good in a shady rock garden.
