Basics: zones 2-9, 4-6" x 12-18", full sun, charming white flowers in early-midsummer, needs impeccable drainage and prefers alkaline and low nutrient soil.

Family: Carophyllaceae
Origin/Distribution: Found in southern Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
Habitat: Occurs in dry, calcareous soils at altitudes between 3000 to 7500 feet above sea level.
More: Finely textured, grey green leaves, mat-forming. Good for front of a sunny border, rock wall or rock garden. Trim back after bloom to refresh. Blooms attract butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds. Good ground cover. Try with other sun-loving drought tolerant species like Prairie Smoke, Purple Love Grass, Liatris microcephala, and Creeping Thyme.
