Basics: zones 3-7, 2-3' x 1', full to part sun (some sources say shade, too), yellow blooms in early summer, prefers wet to medium moist soils.
Common names: Yellow Avens
Family: Rosaceae
Origin/Distribution: Occurs in 36 states, including all of New England, and five Canadian Provinces. It has also been introduced in Scandinavia and New Zealand and there is a subspecies that occurs naturally in Europe and Asia. Native to Maine.
Habitat: damp open forest, meadows, fields, shore edges, swamps, low woodlands and woodland edges
