Sizes available: 2 quart
Basics: zones 4-8, 6-12" x 12", part sun to part shade, dainty bright yellow flowers along a wiry stem over mottled leaves in mid to late spring, can take some drought and quite a bit of shade, but with consistent moisture enjoys sunnier spots
Common names: Barrenwort
Family: Berberidaceae
Origin/Distribution: most species are from China
Habitat: deciduous woodland
More: Many varieties of Barrenwort have been in cultivation for over 150 years. A tried and true perennial for a shady border. Will gradually increase into a nice-size clump via rhizome. The foliage looks great all summer. Clumps can be divided in late summer. I have seen early season bees feeding on the flowers.
