Sizes available: #1 (Trade gallon)
Basics: zones 5-8, 24-30" x 24", full sun to part shade, pendulous pale pink bells over a rosette of heart-shaped leaves during mid summer, wants good drainage.
Common names: Korean Bellflower
Family: Campanulaceae
Origin/Distribution: Campanula takesimana is native to the Dekdo Islands and the island of Ulleungdo, located off the Korean peninsula. It is endangered due to habitat loss.
Habitat: The species C. takesimana prefers rocky coastal slopes and cliffs.
More: This is a strong grower that does not want wet feet and is very charismatic in bloom. The flowers are enjoyed by bumblebees in particular. The parentage of this hybrid is not settled. Perhaps a cross between C. takesimana and the closely related C. punctata. However, it looks a lot like the species C. takesimana. Self-seeding may be a problem and I will keep you posted. Other campanulas make a good cut flower. I imagine this one does as well. Salt tolerant.
