Origin/Distribution: central Europe
Habitat: In it's natural habitat, Astrantia favor quite damp conditions, but in a partly shaded garden border with moisture retentive soil it will do just fine.
More: A very good cut flower, cutting will encourage more blooming, you can even cut the whole plant back pretty hard and it will flush new leaves and a second round of flower, but don't do this if the plant is in less than optimal conditions, as it will overly stress it. Astrantias have a long history of medicinal use.
