Sizes available: 2 quart - easily dividable
Basics: zones 5-9, 12-18" x 12-18", full sun to light shade, purply-pink bloom in late summer, dry to moist soil is fine, but well-drained
Common name: Ornamental Onion
Family: Amaryllidaceae
More: Deer and rabbit resistant, very attractive to pollinators, good cut flower, the seedheads are persistent and attractive and the foliage stays fresh even after flowering. This is a friendly, lower-growing, "pop in anywhere that's sunny" allium that looks great both in and out of flower. Blooms later in the summer than other alliums. It might seem from the brevity of this post that I am not enthusiastic about this plant, but I am. I have it in numerous spots in my own gardens. It is a good "do-er" and I wouldn't be without it. The Perennial Plant Association agrees with me, as it awarded 'Millenium' the Perennial Plant of the Year Award in 2018.
