Collection: The Summer Garden

This list comprises what is blooming and what is looking good in the garden between spring and fall. Some of these plants also appear in The Early Season Garden and The Late Season Garden. In particular, plants with attractive leafy growth, like some of the ferns, hostas, and the groundcovers appear across all the lists. They may each have their optimum season, but tend to hold up well, even in the background, from snow melt to frost. I erred on the side of inclusion regarding summer bloom times. Everyone's garden is a different micro-climate and every year there is more or less rain, so pinning down exact bloom dates on the edges of a season is nearly impossible. Some of these will bloom in the latest spring or the earliest fall, acting as transitions from one full blown season to the next. As I study the timing of the cycles in my own garden I will add more details into each plant entry and adjust the lists accordingly.
