More: Violet species are an excellent rugged and charming living mulch for almost anywhere. Numerous butterfly caterpillars feed on violet leaves. If you have some shady spots of scraggily lawn, try growing Violet species and Wild strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) instead of grass.
