Origin/Distribution: Native to the island of Honshu, Japan where it is rarely found in the wild. This plant was brought into cultivation the U.S. nursery trade after it was featured in the University of California Botanical Garden in the early 1990s.
More: A "nice visitor from away" for the shade garden. This large-leaved plant with shiny, velvety leaves will form an attractive clump of foliage before blooming in the late summer. Deer resistant.
