Basics: zones 4-8, 36-48" x 12", full sun (with enough moisture) to light shade, yellow, daisy-shape of quilled, narrow ray petals with a brown center in late summer to early fall, likes medium-wet to medium-dry soils, in my experience, drought tolerant once established, clay tolerant

Common names: Sweet Coneflower, Sweet Black-eyed Susan

Family: Asteraceae

Origin/Distribution: The species is native from Indiana to Louisiana, and west to Wisconsin, Iowa, and Oklahoma.

Habitat: The species is found in damper prairies, woodland edges, roadside ditches, stream banks, and low spots with a bit of moisture.

More: This cultivar blooms earlier and shorter than 'Henry Eilers' which gets up to 6' tall, attractive to pollinators, has vanilla-scented leaves, deer resistant, long bloom period, good cut flower, more perennial than other rudbeckias
