Sizes available: 1 quart
Basics: zone 5-9, 6-10" x 12-15", part sun to full shade, blooms are white with yellow crests and appear in late spring, likes moist to average soil, drought tolerant once established.
Common names: this is a cultivar of Dwarf Crested Iris
Family: Iridaceae
Origin/Distribution: The species is native from Pennsylvania to Georgia and west to eastern Oklahoma. This is an introduction by nurseryman, Don Odom Shadow from Winchester, TN.
Habitat: upland woods, rocky wooded slopes, bluffs, and sandy stream banks
More: A miniature iris for your woodland gardens, will spread by rhizome if happy. 'Tennessee White' is more vigorous and longer-blooming than the species. The short sword-shaped leaves are attractive even after bloom and work well with other little ground-covery bits. The species has mild toxicity and is attractive to slugs and snails, so I imagine 'Tennessee White' shares those attributes.
