Basics: zones 3-6, up to 24", full to part sun, pretty yellow flowers that look like tiny dandelions bloom at the tips of loose branching structure in mid summer, dry to average water needs, not picky as to soil as long as it is well-drained, drought tolerant.
Common names: Kalm's Hawkweed, Canada Hawkweed, Northern Hawkweed
Family: Asteraceae
Origin/Distribution: Occurs from New Brunswick west to Ontario and south from Maine to New Jersey (where it is rare), as far west as Wyoming and as far south as Missouri. Native to Maine.
Habitat: Adaptable to various conditions - cliffs, balds, ledges, grasslands, meadows, fields, lake shore, river edge, forest edge, roadside, disturbed area, and even thin forest. There are numerous regional variations of Hawkweeds.
