Sizes available: #1 (Trade gallon)
Basics: zones 4-9, 8-10" x 12", morning sun to dappled to part shade, spring-blooming yellow pendant flowers over pretty mottled leaves. The mottling moves toward green as the season progresses, likes cool and damp woodland soils, but well-drained, may go summer-dormant if too hot or dry
Common names: Trout Lily, Dog-tooth Violet, Avalanche Lily, Fawn Lily, Glacier Lily
Family: Liliaceae
Origin/Distribution: This is a cross between E. tuyolumnense and E. californicum 'White Beauty' (which is from E. revolutum)
Habitat: cool, damp woodland
More: This cross has larger flowers and grows taller than either of its parents. It is a strong grower in ideal conditions, so site accordingly. Good for large, part-shade rock gardens or moist, well-drained woodland settings. Keep your eye out for Lily Leaf Beetle, Lilioceris lilii. These are an introduced and invasive species that are bright lacquer red and may feed on the foliage of Erythroniums although it seems they reject them as larval hosts. There are no biological controls. Hand-picking is a must if you love the Lily Family!
