Sizes available: #1 (Trade gallon)
Basics: zones 3-8, 12-18" x 10", part shade to part sun, short stalks of pale, butter-yellow bells in early to mid summer, dry to medium moisture, likes well-drained soils and fertile organic matter
Common names: Dwarf Yellow Foxglove
Family: Plantaginaceae (formerly Scrophulariaceae)
Origin/Distribution: Digitalis grandiflora is native to Siberia, Turkey, and central Europe.
Habitat: woodland, stream banks, scrubby slopes, openings after disturbance such as blow -downs or logging
More: This is a shorter cultivar of Digitalis grandiflora. It is also more biennial than perennial 9it's parent is one of the longest-lived perennial foxgloves). It will set seed and I imagine there may be variability in what results, which might be interesting. However, this cultivar can be grown from seed and it is available from Jelitto. Great for a woodland edge planting and I imagine it popping up here and there in a Carex "lawn". All Digitalis species are poisonous and deer and rabbit resistant. Attractive to pollinators and will flower for almost two months. Will be a great addition to a smaller bouquet if picked when roughly 1/2 of the bells have opened.
