Origin/Distribution: native to southern Maine and south through the rest of New England, west to Minnesota and south to northwest Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma
Habitat: Found in dappled shade and open woodland, both mixed and deciduous, often on wooded slopes and ridges, so I imagine it prefers good drainage.
More: Will do dormant in the summer, despite its delicate appearance Rue anemone is not a difficult plant to grow. It has a long spring bloom time. Will do well along a woodland path or in the front of a shady border or rock garden.
